Migrant Workers' Centre urge Singaporeans to remain calm
The Migrant Workers' Centre, MWC, has urged Singaporeans to remain calm.
It said the ill-placed actions of a few should not taint the majority of migrant workers in Singapore who are law-abiding.
The centre's chairmn Yeo Guat Kwang says they're here to make an honest living and contribute positively to Singapore.
He says MWC will do its part to offer emotional and legal assistance to those affected.
It appeals to migrant workers to observe the laws of Singapore and caution them against taking matters into their own hands.
Those with issues should come forward to MWC.
MWC has also obtained the details of the deceased worker and we have contacted his employer to ensure that all the necessary support and follow up is provided.
Mr Yeo says last night's incident clearly show that peace and harmony should never be taken for granted.
