
SINGAPORE: MediaCorp will broadcast the National Day Rally 2012 "live" on Sunday from 6.45pm across its television, radio and online platforms.
This year’s National Day Rally (NDR) will be split into two parts.
Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, Senior Minister of State for Education, and Information, Communications and the Arts Lawrence Wong; and Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports Halimah Yacob will deliver their speeches in the first part from 6.45pm to 7.30pm.
In Part 2, from 8pm to 10pm, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver his speech in Malay, Chinese and English.
Prime Minister Lee on Tuesday thanked Singaporeans for their suggestions on what he should talk about in his National Day Rally speech.
In a facebook post, Mr Lee said he is looking forward to sharing his thoughts on Sunday, on the future Singapore we wish to see, and how we can work together to build a better home for all.
As for the new speakers, they have told Channel NewsAsia they’re honoured to be able to share their thoughts at the Rally.
Mr Heng said he will touch on the national conversation he’s hoping to strike up on the future of Singapore, while Mr Wong said he will share his aspirations for the country.
Mdm Halimah said she’ll focus on providing opportunities for all Singaporeans for a fair and just society.
Channel 5, HD5, okto, and Channel NewsAsia will broadcast the rally speech in English, while Channel 8 and Channel U will broadcast it in Mandarin.
Suria will broadcast the speech in Malay, and Vasantham in Tamil.
MediaCorp radio stations will also broadcast the full speech "live" with translations in the four official languages.
