MDA launches public consultation on empowering organisers to classify own plays, musical and concerts

The Media Development Authority is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to the Public Entertainments and Meetings Act.

Under the proposed changes, organisers of arts events will be able to classify their own plays, musicals and concerts.

Rock concerts, musicals and even arts exhibitions are included.

To allow for self-classification, the Media Development Authority wants to introduce a new Licensing Scheme.

Instead of applying for individual licences for each event, organisers can apply for a term licence, with which they can stage multiple performances within a fixed period.

The term licence is divided into two tiers, which range from "General" ratings to "Restricted 18".

Arts groups may still apply for individual licenses from the MDA if they prefer.

You can submit your feedback to "policy underscore consultations at mda dot gov dot sg" before the end of this month.
