Margaret Thatcher was one of Britain's "great leaders" & will be greatly missed: PM Lee

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has described Margaret Thatcher as one of Britain's "great leaders" and said he was saddened to learn of her passing.
In a condolence letter to British Prime Minister David Cameron, Mr Lee said Mrs Thatcher had as Prime Minister vigorously championed liberalisation and enacted many market-based reforms that accelerated Britain's development.
Mrs Thatcher led Britain through defining periods in its history including the Falklands War and the end of the Cold War. She had also reshaped Britain's relationships abroad, especially with the United States.
Mr Lee said Mrs Thatcher was a friend of Singapore's and helped to strengthen ties between the two countries during her time in office.
Mr Lee add that Mrs Thatcher's determination to make Britain a stronger nation despite the political odds is an inspiration to global leaders.
In concluding the letter, Mr Lee said Mrs Thatcher will long be remembered as an outstanding leader and will be greatly missed.
