A supervisor who knocked down a pair of 12-year-old twin boys in a hit-and-run accident last Sunday was charged today in court.
32-year-old Tong Chee Wei faced four charges under the Road Traffic Act, and one charge under the Motor Vehicles Act.
A district judge noted that his offences were "quite serious."
Tong allegedly hit the two boys while they were walking on a pedestrian crossing along Tampines Ave 7 last Sunday.
Investigations revealed that Tong was driving whilst under disqualification.
The boys suffered injuries and were taken to KK Women's and Children's Hospital.
It's believed Tong stopped his car and brought the twins to the roadside after the accident.
But he left the scene before the police or the ambulance arrived.
He also did not provide his particulars to the victims.
Tong was arrested three hours later at his Tampines home.
Tong was successfully granted leave of jurisdiction today to go to Bangkok between 16 and 21 July, for business and to visit his girlfriend.
Police raised his bail from $10,000 to $15,000.
Tong, who has engaged a lawyer, will be back in court on 23 August.
