SINGAPORE: It is not every day that a budding footballer gets to meet an international football superstar.
But four primary school students, all recipients of the Peter Lim Scholarship, even got to show the Manchester United’s Luis Nani a trick or two of their own.
The four recipients, all aged 11, are members of the school’s football team, who made it to third place in the western zone football championships.
25—year—old Nani took time off from his holiday in Singapore for a surprise appearance at Zhenghua Primary School, where about 1,600 students had been assembled for Nani’s appearance.
The Portuguese international showcased a part of his vast array of skills and also took the time to share his experiences and field questions from both students and the media.
For the four students, Nani’s visit was the icing on the cake after hearing they had received the cash scholarship.
Scholarship recipient Mohd Haikal bin Rosli said: "I would like to give half of my money to my mum because she have always helped me in my studies, and support me in my studies and sports."
Another scholarship recipient, Salman An—Farisi B Yusri, said: "I would like to give half of the money to my parent because my parent is single parent."
