SINGAPORE: A man has been sentenced to six months’ jail for abusing a boy left in his care.
The accused, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, used a belt to hit the boy.
The victim was four years old when his grandaunt and family took him in — in 2004, as his mother was in jail.
Between 2009 and 2011, he was abused by the family members — and they have already been dealt with by the law.
The victim was scalded by boiling water, and burnt on the lips with a hot ladle. His fingers had also been cut with scissors.
The man faced three charges of abuse, and lawyers proceeded with one charge.
He will start his jail term on January 10.
