At about 7.30pm on Thursday, the MPA was informed that a man had fallen from Singapore-flagged passenger ferry, the "Asean Raider 2", about 4 kilometres southeast of Kusu Island in the Singapore Strait.

The ferry was travelling from Singapore's regional ferry terminal in Harbourfront to Batu Ampar in Batam, Indonesia.

Two MPA craft, one Police Coast Guard craft and one Republic of Singapore Navy patrol vessel are involved in the search and rescue operations.
