Man faces jail and fine for filming daughter in the shower

A man who filmed his biological daughter while she was showering pleaded guilty on Wednesday.

The man cannot be named to protect the identity of the girl.

The 50 year old committed the offence sometime between January 2009 and March 2010.

His daughter was about 15 at that time.

The man had placed a phone - on record mode - in the pocket of a pair of jeans, which was hung in the toilet of his home.

His daughter discovered the phone while she was showering, and deleted the video after seeing the recording.

She later approached her school counsellor, and a report was made in April 2010.

The court heard the man has a diploma in computer science, and had worked in the IT field.

The man, who is now jobless, first pleaded guilty in June this year.

But the plea was retracted in September this year, for the prosecution to consider the status of the man's second charge.

This is for possessing 91 obscene films.

His case will be heard again on November 5. 

The court on Wednesday imposed a bail of $10,000.

The accused faces a maximum penalty of one year jail and a fine.
