Man convicted of 14 charges in Sentosa’s trolley—bag—death case

SINGAPORE: A businessman implicated in the Sentosa trolley bag death case has been convicted of 14 charges.

Teo Boon Leng, 45, was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on a murder charge in August last year.

On Thursday, he was found guilty of sending false messages, not reporting the death of his sex partner to the authorities, as well as for charges relating to drug consumption, among other things.

The decomposed body of Dylan Wong Teck Siong, 28, was stuffed in a trolley bag and was found two weeks later in the waters off Sentosa on April 16, 2011.

Wong died in an apartment at Keppel Bay Drive, which was shared by Teo and his partner Pee Weai Hong.

Earlier this week, Pee, 33, was sentenced to two weeks’ jail for not alerting the police about Wong’s death.

The three men were involved in a love triangle, which started two months before Wong’s death.

On the morning of 3 April 2011, Teo had found Wong lying face down in the apartment.

He told Pee he did not want to report the matter as he had taken drugs and had also ejaculated into Wong’s body.

Teo added that the police might also detect drugs in Pee’s body.

Teo also deceived Wong’s family and friends by sending false text messages, using the deceased’s phone.

The prosecution proceeded on six of the 14 charges, with the other eight to be taken into consideration during sentencing.

A 15th charge relating to intentional omission to provide information to public servant has been withdrawn.

The court will hear Teo’s mitigation on 22 March.
