M1 says fibre broadband service fully restored
Telecommunications company, M1, says it has fully restored its fibre broadband connections about an hour after it posted on Facebook that the service was down.
In an update to the post at about 1pm, the telco said it noted no data traffic to its fixed network on one of the domain name servers and "immediately took action to redirect traffic and restore services to affected customers".
The telco advised affected customers to reset their optical network terminating equipment.
Within 30 minutes of the initial post about the outage on Facebook, there were nearly 100 comments with many customers complaining that they were unable to reach the telco's customer service hotline.
Several also questioned why the telco took so long to post the notice, with one user saying Internet service was disrupted since 10.40am.
Various users also said that M1 should have sent an SMS to alert them of the outage.
