LTA to shorten waiting times at taxi stands
The Land Transport Authority or LTA is looking into shortening waiting times at taxi stands.
Senior Minister of State for Transport Josephine Teo announced this at the Committee of Supply debate today.
She says that the LTA will provide more real-time information to commuters and drivers.
For instance, they can scan Quick Response codes with their smart-phones to compare waiting times at taxi stands.
The LTA will also test a new system transmitting live demand data at taxi stands to taxi companies.
Companies will then broadcast the data to their drivers.
This will reduce empty cruising by taxi drivers.
