LTA invites public to share suggestions on names for 16 of 22 Thomson Line stations

The MRT stations of the new Thomson Line need names.

If you have any in mind, or want to have a say in what they should be called - share your ideas with the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Send your suggestions to the LTA by 17 February.

The LTA is roping in the public to come up with the official names for 16 of the 22 the stations of the TSL, located in areas such as Sin Ming, Great World City, Havelock and Lentor.

Six of the 22 stations - Woodlands, Caldecott, Stevens, Orchard, Outram Park and Marina Bay - are not included as they'll be in operation on other lines before the Thomson Line is fully complete, and will be interchanges for the new line.

The TSL is expected to be fully complete in 2021.

The LTA said as with the search for names for the Circle Line and Downtown lines, this will give the community around each station the opportunity to have a say in determining the station's identity.

Contributors must bear in mind several criteria: the name must make it easy for commuters to locate the station; it must say something about the history and heritage of the location and reflect Singapore's multi-racial and multi-cultural identity.

The TSL stations in the naming exercise are:

1) Woodlands North
2) Woodlands South
3) Springleaf
4) Lentor
5) Mayflower
6) Sin Ming
7) Upper Thomson
8) Mount Pleasant
9) Napier
10) Orchard Boulevard
11) Great World City
12) Havelock
13) Maxwell
14) Shenton Way
15) Marina South
16) Gardens By The Bay

Contributors can send their suggestions toLTA Feedback Portal.
