LTA awards $189.9m contract for train tunnels to Springleaf station
The Land Transport Authority, LTA, has awarded a contract worth almost $190 million dollars for the Thomson Line.
The contract awarded to Shimizu Corporation is for the construction of Thomson Line tunnels from Seletar Expressway/Woodlands Avenue 12 to Springleaf Station.
LTA says Shimizu is an established contractor in Japan who had completed several infrastructure and building projects in Japan and overseas, including Singapore.
It was previously involved in the Design, Construction & Completion of Circle Line/Downtown Line 1 tunnels undercrossing Marina Bay Reservoir.
Construction works is expected to start by the first quarter of 2014 and complete in 2020.
The fully-underground 30-km long Thomson Line will enhance rail connectivity in the north-south corridors to the Central Business District (CBD) and developments in the Marina Bay area.
