Launch of learning cafe by WDA
The Singapore Workforce Development Agency, WDA, has set up a "Learning Cafe" to promote lifelong learning among Singaporeans.
The "pop-up" cafe, located in Raffles Place, will not only be providing free coffee to walk-in guests, but also offer 17 bite-sized modules for those who're interested in picking up new skills such as coffee brewing, digital art and customer service.
Acting Minister for Manpower, Tan Chuan-Jin unveiled the cafe this afternoon.
"Talking to the baristas I realised that for some them, it's a passion. Just a simple thing like drinking coffee, many of us drink coffee, but actually, behind it, there's a whole, if you would, an artform. That applies to many things that we do. Like, the learning cafe, it provides a first step for people to be curious, take a look, and realised that actually there are a lot of different things that we can do. This is something that we need to continue doing, whether in the form of learning cafe and other formats."
The learning cafe will operate at the Chevron House until end of this week.
It will pop up in Bedok in July and Jurong in September.
