Koh Brothers: Construction at Downtown Line Bugis Station will resume if two safety conditions are met

Contractor Koh Brothers says work on the Downtown Line Bugis Station will resume if two safety conditions are met.

First, a recovery plan is endorsed by a professional engineer to safely remove the collapsed scaffolding.

Second, revised risk assessments and safe work procedures are submitted.

The Manpower Ministry had ordered a stop to all formwork and concreting works at the worksite yesterday, immediately after the accident which left two workers dead and 8 injured.

Koh Brothers says it will work with its sub-contractor to devise welfare measures for workers and families affected by the accident.

The two workers killed are 31-year-old Dou Chunjie and 48-year-old Meng Huaiyou.

Both men were from China.

The eight injured workers have all been discharged from hospital.
