SINGAPORE: The 2012 King of the Road (KOTR) running championship was held at the Gardens by the Bay on Sunday morning.

The 16.8—kilometre run is a popular event and many use it as a tune—up to December’s Singapore International Marathon.

Held across five Southeast Asian countries, the event kicked off in Thailand in July, and since then, the competition has seen over 40,000 runners taking part.

On Sunday morning, Singapore played host to KOTR’s final leg.

The Men’s Open Category winner was Benard Muthoni of Kenya who clocked a record of 50 minutes and 22 seconds.

Taking top spot in the Women’s Open Category was another Kenyan —— Naomi Muriuki, who reached the finishing line in exactly one hour.
