Keep safe at the workplace during the festive season
The Workplace Safety and Health Council is launching a festive season campaign to remind everyone of the importance of keeping safety top of mind at all times.
The campaign from December till February next year has the message "The best gift is returning home safely from work every day".
The campaign's message will be disseminated across various platforms.
Besides outdoor street lamp banners and print advertisements, over 100,000 pocket calendars have been produced to be passed on to workers, safety professionals and managers.
These will be distributed to worker dormitories, workplaces as well as public areas like malls and offices buildings.
The Council says statistics have shown that while the festive period generally sees a slow-down in overall work activities, work accidents can still happen.
The December to February period over the last three years have seen close to about 1,900 work injuries every year.
Over the past three years the top five non-fatal accident types during the festive period remain the same.
These include slips, trips and falls, struck by moving objects and being cut or stabbed by objects.
