IPOS' IP competency framework to be adopted by three industry bodies
Three more industry bodies have signed agreements with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore or IPOS to oversee the progression and development of IP professionals and practitioners in these respective industries under the IP Competency Framework launched last year.
They're the Law Society of Singapore, Association of Singapore Patent Agents, and Institution of Engineers Singapore.
Under the agreements, the three bodies will partner IPOS to professionally certify new and existing IP lawyers, patent agents as well as researchers, scientists and engineers specialising in IP.
This includes setting professional renewal requirements, and professional conduct and discipline.
Chief Executive of IPOS, Tan Yih San, says these agreements build on Singapore's efforts to professionalise its IP ecosystem, and will raise the bar and provide quality assurance for IP professional standards and training providers.
