A new inter-agency Committee has been set up to improve safety measures on the road for pedestrians and cyclists.
It will be chaired by Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim.
By next year the Committee will develop a five-year Action Plan.
Speaking in parliament, Associate Professor Faishal said in parliament that the Committee will review safety within school zones.
Dr Faishal said these measures will complement stricter enforcement by Traffic Police at school zones.
He added equal efforts would be made to inculcate safety consciousness among the young.
