Indonesian tycoon laid to rest in Singapore

SINGAPORE: Indonesian tycoon Liem Sioe Liong, who’s also known by his Indonesian name, Sudono Salim, has been laid to rest at the Choa Chu Kang cemetery.

The business mogul died in Singapore at Raffles Hospital on 10 June.

He was 97.

More than a thousand relatives and friends gathered in Singapore to pay their last respects to the late Mr Liem.

Among them were Filipino Foreign Minister Albert Del Rosario and China’s Foreign Affairs Vice—Minister He Yafei.

The family flew in 12 monks from Thailand to perform the rites.

Mr Liem is survived by wife Lie Kim Nio, four children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
