
SINGAPORE : Ninety—six individuals and organisations were commended for their contributions to Singapore Scouting on Wednesday.
President Tony Tan Keng Yam, the Chief Scout of Singapore, graced the event, which was held at the Istana.
The Distinguished Service Award went to 37 adult leaders for their services and good work.
Silver award recipients went to four adult leaders while 33 other adult leaders received other awards ranging from Star to Bronze to Bronze Vanda.
Another 50 individuals and nine organisations were recognised for supporting the development of Singapore Scouting.
Contributors to the development fund have donated sums ranging from S$5,000 to S$100,000.
They include the NTUC FairPrice Foundation and Keppel Corporation Ltd, which generously donated S$100,000 and S$50,000 respectively to the development fund.
So far, the Singapore Scout Foundation has raised S$765,000.
It aims to raise S$2 million over the next two years for its development fund.
The Singapore Scout Foundation seeks to bring together friends of Singapore Scouting who are committed to developing the Movement for the benefit of this and future generations of young Singaporeans.
There are four categories of Fellowships — Distinguished Fellows, Leading Fellows, Fellows and Associate Fellows.
