IDA and FireEye to launch Centre of Excellence to train cyber security professionals

A new centre has been set up to train cyber security professionals in Singapore and build its resilience against cyber threats.

The FireEye Centre of Excellence, is a collaboration between the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and cybersecurity company, FireEye.

Jacqueline Poh is the Managing Director of IDA.

"Organisations are coming to a rapid realisation that they must be prepared to invest in building capability and capacity to deal with cybersecurity. If cyber attacks respect no borders then defence must also be organised on a global scale. Industry collaborations with partners such as FireEye to develop tools and intelligence that can be deployed globally will benefit organisations in Singapore to raise their capaibilities in this area."

The centre will house FireEye Labs that gather cyber intelligence from attacks that are taking place internationally.

IDA will work with FireEye in two key areas.

Firstly, IDA will accredit FireEye's manpower training programmes for expert level skills sets.

This will be done through a framework developed by IDA and the Workforce Development Authority.

New job opportunities will be created and FireEye will also hire more than 100 professionals through this centre.

Secondly, at least ten new cyber security solutions will be developed to manage cyber security threats.

This will be done through the collaboration between Institutes of Higher Learning and local Information and Communications Technology Companies to build new products and solutions for local and regional markets.
