Hotel site in Little India removed from Reserve List for land use review

Singapore will make available land to sell up to 11,600 private homes in the first half of next year under the Government Land Sales Programme. 

The Ministry of National Development says confirmed eight sites that will yield 4,600 private homes. 

It has earmarked another 15 plots of land it will sell if there is sufficient interest. 

As for the supply of commercial space and hotel rooms - MND says a hotel site on Race Course Road made available for sale through the reserve list from May 2011, will be removed from the list. 

This is to facilitate a review of the land use intention for the site. 

A riot had broken out in the area on December 8.

When contacted by 938LIVE, a spokesperson for the Urban Redevelopment Authority says URA is working with other agencies to consider alternative uses for the 0.38 hectare site.

The spokesperson adds that there there is a healthy pipeline supply of 12,700 hotel rooms.

Under the Reserve List for the first half of 2014, there will be 2 sites for commercial developments, a White site at Marina View and a commercial site at Sims Avenue.
