Government accepts CSNS proposals
The Government has accepted all the recommendations made by the Committee to Strengthen National Service or CSNS.
In his letter today to the Chairman of the CSNS and Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says the proposals will strengthen NS for future generations.
It will also ensure the defence, safety and security of Singapore.
PM Lee also expressed his deep appreciation to all servicemen.
The proposal of 30 recommendations, was submitted to the Government for consideration last month.
The recommendations will see several firsts.
For instance, full-time national servicemen will get to indicate their preferred roles, in order for the SAF to "better match" aptitudes to vocations.
Another is the setting up of a Voluntary Corps for women, new citizens and first-generation Permanent Residents.
