SINGAPORE: The LionsXII have announced a new squad for their 2013 Malaysian Super League (MSL) campaign.

Irwan Shah and Safuwan Baharudin were selected for the new 29—man squad. Both defenders helped to model the new kit for the team.

Captain Shahril Ishak, midfield general Hariss Harun and defender Baihakki Khaizan are also in.

The addition of new players Fazrul Nawaz, Iqbal Hussain and Hafiz Sujad signalled the Football Association of Singapore’s (FAS) intent of grooming younger players for the SEA Games in December.

The Lions had a positive debut MSL campaign, finishing second to league winners Kelantan.

But the association is aiming for a modest target this year.

President of FAS Zainudin Nordin said: "Last year, we wanted to emerge in the top—five and it was a reasonable target. For the second season, I think it is quite a decent target for us to continue to maintain. At the same time, for them also to continue to achieve a final position in one of the (titles)."
