SINGAPORE: Police have arrested five men in a raid on an illegal gambling den in a private apartment at Geylang Road.
The five, aged between 35 and 56, were arrested in a five—hour operation which started at 11pm on Thursday.
A police statement said one of the suspects, aged 56, had rented the private apartment for gambling. The other suspects are believed to be patrons.
Nineteen modified computers and $1,800 in cash were also seized.
The 56—year—old suspect and a suspected patron, aged 37, will be charged in court on Monday.
Investigations against the remaining suspects are on—going.
Any person found guilty of managing an illegal gambling den can be fined between $5,000 and $50,000. He can also be jailed up to three years.
