First new year baby ushers in 2013 just 13 seconds past midnight
One couple ushered in the new year with a new member - seconds after the clock struck 12.
Little baby Helen is Singapore's first baby of 2013, arriving 13 seconds past midnight at the National University Hospital.
Helen, who weighed 3 kilograms at birth, is the first child of 29-year-old Guo Yanhua and her husband, 31-year-old Huo Xuan.
Both are engineers and Singapore Permanent Residents.
Madam Guo, who delivered Helen after five and a half hours of labour, said she chose the name 'Helen' as it symbolises sunshine.
