Faster Access To Patient Data For Public Healthcare
Public healthcare staff will soon be able to more quickly and securely access patient data from PCs at any location, as they move across healthcare institutions, to provide timely patient care.
IHiS, the Health Ministry's IT arm, and software company Citrix have signed an agreement for desktop virtualisation, a software technology that stores information in a central datacentre rather than in staff's PCs.
The technology will also facilitate team-based care for improved patient outcomes, as staff can more easily and quickly collaborate online on a patient's treatment, across specialties and Regional Health Systems.
It also paves the way for staff to use other devices such as tablets and smartphones to retrieve and enter patient data in future.
