SINGAPORE: The organisers of this year's National Day Parade said "everyday Singaporeans" will be celebrated at the annual event.
A total of 35 marching contingents featuring 2,000 people from all walks of life will form the backbone of the Parade and Ceremony segment - the largest ever such display held at the Floating Platform.
At a media briefing on Wednesday (June 18), Senior Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Tan, Chairman of the P&C Committee, said: "The Parade and Ceremony segment this year celebrates what we stand for as Singaporeans, and recognises people from all walks of life, past and present, who have come together to build and defend Singapore, our home."
Other firsts include a parade cameo from members of MINDS, or the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore.
There will also be what is known as a Military Tattoo, a seven-minute military band display performed by 164 personnel. - CNA/es
