Every School A Good School
Senior Minister of State for Education Indranee Rajah has outlined how the Education Ministry is achieving its vision of making every school a good school.
The question was posed by Non-Constituency MP Yee Jenn Jong.
Ms Indranee says it is a work-in-progress but there are several indicators.
First, a good school caters to the needs of its students well.
Second, it nurtures and engages its students.
Third, teachers are resourced, equipped and supported.
And finally, the school has a strong community relationship and good partnership with parents.
To support that, the Education Ministry will ensure schools are properly resourced, the curriculum is well-delivered, and teachers are trained.
"Every school a good school does not mean every school the same school. What we're really striving to do is for each school to be able to deliver all the base things perfectly well, but at the same time, each school to have certain specialties, which students can look at and say, this is more suitable for me than that particular school."
