Electricity tariffs for 1st quarter of next year will go down by some 3.7%

Electricity tariffs from 1 Jan to 31 Mar 2013, will go down by an average of 3.7 percent.

SP Services says the reduction is due to lower costs of electricity generation, largely due to lower fuel prices reduction of 4.1% compared to the previous quarter.

Non-fuel costs of power generation have also been adjusted.

The average monthly electricity bill for families living in four-room HDB flats will go down by $3.83.

Tariffs were also reduced by 2.5% in Q3 of 2012 and 2.9% in Q4 2012.
