Early Literacy Library set up in Jurong
An Early Literacy Library of 60,000 books and audio visual materials has been set up within the Jurong Regional Libary.
It;s targetted as a one stop centre for resources, services and programmes for parents and early childhood educators to help them engage and nurture children.
The collection is targeted at children aged six and below, and supports the five Early Literacy practices of Playing, Talking, Singing, Reading and Writing.
The Early Literacy Library is designed with conducive spaces that promote parent-child bonding.
Minister of State for Education, Sim Ann says children who become interested in reading from an early age will be moe prepared for school.
They are "more confident, articulate and have a greater sense of curiosity about the world."
