SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has allowed taxi drivers to continue driving from age 73 to 75. Now, more than 500 private driving instructors are hoping to raise the retirement age to 73.

Under the Road Traffic Rules, the maximum age limit for private driving instructors is 70. But some say they are still fit and healthy to continue driving beyond that age.

"We can still earn income when we teach driving. Who will hire us when we are 70 years old? Most people can live beyond 80 years old now," said a private driving instructor.

Their request is currently being reviewed by the Traffic Police.
