Dr Maliki Osman to attend APEC meeting in Russia

SINGAPORE: Senior Parliamentary Secretary for National Development and Defence, Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, will attend the 2nd Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting on Food Security in Russia from Wednesday.

Dr Maliki will lead officials from the Ministry of National Development and the Agri—Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) for the two—day meeting in Kazan, Russia.

The meeting will discuss current and future actions that APEC economies should take to respond to the risks and challenges of food security. It will also discuss ways to create an environment for sustainable agricultural growth.

The ministry said a joint declaration on strengthening food security will be adopted at the meeting.
