Don't take actions of some foreign workers to be representative of all, says MOM
The Manpower Ministry, or MOM, says the riot in Little India was "a serious but isolated incident".
It adds that foreign workers in Singapore are by and large law-abiding individuals who are here to earn a living and support their families back home.
The ministry stresses that Singaporeans should not take the actions of some foreign workers to be representative of them all.
MOM says it is working with employers and unions to keep communication lines open.
It will continue to strengthen the understand and ties among different groups in Singapore's workplaces.
The police have arrested 27 individuals in relation to the riot.
They are all from South Asia.
The police have also said they will not spare any effort to arrest and prosecute everyone involved in the violence.
They will "pay extra attention not just to Little India, but also to foreign worker dormitories and known places of congregation".
