Doctor suspended for 12 months

The Singapore Medical Council, SMC, has suspended a doctor for 9 months following his conviction on charges of selling cough syrup without a licence in March 2011.

Dr Khoo Buk Kwong, who was practicing as a general practitioner at Health plus Clinic in Choa Chu Kang, has also been suspended for 3 months for hurting a police officer in November 2010 for which he was jailed for two weeks.

The Singapore Medical Council says the two suspensions are to run concurrently.

He was also censured and ordered to pay the costs of the disciplinary inquiry.
