SINGAPORE: The government has received many suggestions from different groups of Singaporeans on how to define the pioneer generation, and details will be provided in the upcoming Budget.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said this in a written parliamentary reply to a question from Nominated Member of Parliament Nicholas Fang.
Mr Fang asked what criteria will be used to define the pioneer generation, a group of seniors who will be recognised through measures and packages as announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his National Day Rally Speech last year.
Mr Tharman, who is also the Finance Minister, said a Pioneer Generation Package is being worked out to honour this special group of elderly Singaporeans.
He said the public can continue to send suggestions through the government's feedback site, REACH, or on the Finance Ministry's website. - CNA/gn
