SINGAPORE: The number of dengue cases in Singapore has continued to climb, hitting nearly a 10-week high.
There were 485 cases reported last week, from January 5 to 11.
This was an increase of 48 cases from the preceding week -- 29 December 2013 to 4 January 2014 -- and the highest since late October.
Last week, a 59-year-old woman died of dengue, marking the year's first dengue death.
The total number of dengue cases last year hit an eight-year high, with 22,632 cases reported. - CNA/al
