SINGAPORE: Gardens by the Bay is Singapore’s latest attraction and National Day was the perfect time for many to visit the newbie in town.
Alagu Sundaram said: "It’s a good time to spend with the family because it’s a very scenic place."
The sunny weather was perfect for crowds to gather at many other attractions around Marina Bay to soak in the festivities.
Celebrations also continued across the bay at the Esplanade.
For a Singaporean taste, visitors got the chance to try their hand at an exhibition of traditional local games.
There were those who took no chances in securing the best vantage point for the fireworks.
Many came equipped with mats, snacks and games.
Foo Chuan Jing said: "I’m a freshman from Ngee Ann polytechnic. It’s a tradition for our club to come down as a club to watch the fireworks every year.
"I think it is the opportunity it provides for us as a nation to bond together. You see foreigners, you see locals alike, getting together, rubbing shoulders."
A student from Germany said: "I’m here on an exchange year. So I just wanted to see how Singaporean people celebrate National Day. It’s really amazing; there are so many people here. And the weather is perfect. I think it’s an awesome setting for such a day.
"It’s super organised. It’s really nice. They lead you where you have to go. And they show you where everything is. The fireworks, of course. Because at home we don’t see jet parades or military parades at all. So it’s quite unique and it’s the first time I will ever see it."
