Construction is underway for the campus of the Singapore Institute of Technology, or SIT, at Temasek Polytechnic.
The school held its first groundbreaking ceremony today at the polytechnic in Tampines, where one of its new buildings will be housed.
This is the first of five groundbreaking ceremonies, which will be held at other polytechnic sites in the coming months.
The school plans to house its current overseas university partners - The Glasgow School of Arts and The Culinary Institute of America - at its new building at Temasek Polytechnic.
SIT received about 5,000 applications this year and took in about 1,300 students.
Mr Desmond Soon, Director of Marketing Communications at SIT, is confident the campus will provide an ideal place to learn and grow.
"The campus at Temasek Polytechnic is fantastic because a large portion of it faces Bedok Reservoir and we feel that will allow our students to express their creativity, give them a wide open environment for them to study and get to know their colleagues as well as interact with faculty, and enjoy the facilities we'll be providing for them."
The new building at Temasek Polytechnic will have five storeys of teaching facilities, academic offices and two big lecture halls.
