ComfortDelGro passing rebates to taxi drivers
ComfortDelGro says it will pass on the government's one-year 30-per-cent road tax rebate for commercial vehicles to its drivers.
According to a TODAY newspaper report, ComfortDelGro is the largest taxi operator in Singapore with almost six in every 10 taxis on the roads here.
The company's spokesperson said the road tax rebate works out to close to 5 million dollars for the company a year, or 306 dollars per taxi.
The National Taxi Association had earlier called on operators to pass the road tax rebate for taxis to cabbies.
Companies did so in 2009 when the government announced a similar measure.
SMRT Taxis & Transport Solutions Director, Tony Heng, said the company, which has some 3,500 taxis on the roads here, is currently reviewing what is being offered in Budget 2013, and its impact on its business.
