COEs for big cars take a dip

The recent changes on car loan limits and a tiered additional registration fee structure have made their impact on the COEs.

The COE bidding exercise which ended today was the first since the changes were announced in the budget statement.

The biggest drop of 37 per cent was in the big cars category.

This is a stark contrast to the marginal 4.6 per cent fall in the small cars category, dropping to nearly 74,700 dollars.

The Open category fell 29 per cent to 65,001 dollars.

COEs in two categories rose.

Commercial vehicles COE went up 0.7 per cent to 53,900 dollars while that for Motorcyles rose 25 per cent to 1,895 dollars
