COE down across the board except for motorcycles

Certificates of Entitlement or COE premiums ended lower except for motorcycles in the latest bidding exercise.

COEs for big cars fell the most by some eight per cent to $73,010.

Category 'A' COE's meant for smaller cars fell 2.4 per cent to $73,160.

Director of Ricardo Auto Centre, Jeremy Soh explains the fall in Category A COEs is smaller than that of Category B.

"Reason was possibly due to brands actually try to clear whatever remaining stocks they have and in time for the re-categorisation of the Cat A vehicles next year. As for the Cat B, even though with the brisk sales over the weekend, a lot of the cars are not in yet. So stocks levels are pretty low so dealerships have actually not come in to bid aggressively."

The COE premium for commercial vehicles category went down by 7 per cent to $51,112.

Open category COEs also fell 7 per cent, to $76,901.

Motorcycle COEs went up by 4 per cent to $1,780.
