SINGAPORE: Singapore is playing host to the General of the Directorate of Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine (DIRECTEMAR) of Chile, Vice Admiral Enrique Larranaga Martin.

The visit is part of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s (MPA’s) Distinguished Visitors Programme.

During his visit, Vice Admiral Larranaga met Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew.

He also met chief executive of MPA Lam Yi Young.

"This visit underscores the good working relationship Singapore and Chile share in maritime issues, and MPA is very honoured to host Vice Admiral Larranaga. We believe that this visit will further bolster our ties with DIRECTEMAR," Mr Lam said.

Vice Admiral Larranaga, who will be in Singapore from August 7 to 11, also met the Chief of Staff (Naval Staff) of the Republic of Singapore Navy, Rear Admiral Tan Wee Beng.
