SINGAPORE: Managing healthcare costs for children and creating a more pro—family environment were some of the concerns raised at a REACH dialogue session on "Women, Career and Babies" on Thursday.
The session was attended by 26 women from all walks of life, and was chaired by REACH Chairperson Dr Amy Khor.
Dr Khor is also Minister of State for Health and Manpower
Participants spoke candidly on a variety of topics, which included re—looking employment and human resource practices toward stay—at—home mothers returning to the workforce.
Also raised was the issue of giving stay—at—home mothers the same privileges as working mums.
Dr Khor said current policies are meant to give women a choice.
"Women generally have strong maternal instincts; they are expected to play multiple roles. So they will face the most challenge in terms of marriage and parenthood issues, so it’s really useful for us to get feedback from them," she said.
