CHAS for Pioneers brought forward

CHAS for Pioneers brought forward

Members of the Pioneer Generation will be able to enjoy benefits under the Community Health Assist Scheme or CHAS starting September this year.

That's four months sooner than previously planned.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam announced this change in his Budget Debate wrap-up speech today.

He says this is so that the pioneers can start enjoying the enhanced benefits "quickly".

"It'll come into place at the same time as the enhanced subsidies in our specialist outpatient clinics, so that across the outpatient sector, polyclinics, specialist outpatient clinics, and the GPs, from September this year, the Pioneer Generation will be able to get their enhanced subsidies."

He says the pioneers will also be receiving a "Pioneer Generation card" by September, identifying them as beneficiaries.
