SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Changi Airport will reach a new milestone in a few days.
It is expecting the number of passengers touching down to pass the 50 million mark, just two years after Changi crossed the 40 million passenger mark in 2010.
Moving forward, the airport hopes to boost this number by strengthening its connectivity to cities like China, India and Indonesia.
It is also working with airlines to fly more frequently to countries like Russia and Africa, as well as attracting new airlines into Singapore.
To commemorate the occasion, Changi conducted a celebratory event, welcoming passengers on board flight GA824 amid much fanfare.
The flight is on the second busiest international air route in the world, and is operated by Indonesia’s national carrier, Garuda.
Celebrations also included a game show, in which 24—year—old Indonesian lawyer Prayanto Inkarani walked away with the grand prize —— $50,000 worth of shopping vouchers and retail products from the airport, as well as a pair of business class air tickets sponsored by Garuda Indonesia.
