SINGAPORE: A woman was knocked down by a car outside MediaCorp as hundreds of staff and members of the public were standing along Andrew Road waiting to pay their respects to the late MediaCorp artiste Huang Wenyong.
She is understood to have been crossing the road when the accident happened.
Witnesses said there were many people coming in and out of MediaCorp premises at that time to line up along the route of the hearse as it passed by Caldecott Broadcast Centre on ite way to Bright Hill Temple.
Channel NewsAsia spoke to the driver of the vehicle, who said he was travelling slowly and looking out for pedestrians on both sides of the narrow road.
He said he turned to his left again to check for traffic, and started to drive when it was all clear. But the woman was already crossing from the other side of the road.
The woman, who is in her 20s, was helped by bystanders and brought to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
