Building a Nation with a Caring Society
Social nets in Singapore will be strengthened to give everyone a greater peace of mind, says the Prime Minister's Office.
Setting out plans to build a caring society in its addenda to the President's Address - the government says it will do more to help the elderly using the Pioneer Generation Package which provides extra support for their healthcare needs.
And by 2020, there'll be six new polyclinics and more than 11-thousand beds will be added in hospitals and nursing homes.
Healthcare will also be kept affordable through subsidies, Medisave and the new MediShield Life, which will be implemented by the end of next year.
To help low wage workers, the Manpower Ministry says this will be done through the creation of good jobs, skills upgrading and targetted interventions where necessary.
MOM will also consider extending the retirement age from 65 to 67.
And the CPF system will continue to be improved so Singaporeans can retire with peace of mind.
